Haidong Huang is an Associate Professor in the College of Civil Engineering & Architecture of Chongqing Jiao Tong University China. Since May 2016 he is an academic research visitor in the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering at the University of Sheffield. During his one-year visit he will study the innovative use of confined rubberised concrete in bridge engineering.

Most of his research work focuses in bridge engineering applications. He has rich experience on bridge design, bridge construction monitoring and bridge technical evaluation and strengthening design. In the last 15 years, he participated in many bridge engineering projects, including 12 bridges design, 11 large span bridges construction monitoring and over 150 bridges’ technical evaluation. For the period between 2004 to 2006, he was in charge for the stuctural monitoring of Chongqing Shi Ban-po Yangtze River Bridge, which is a prestressed concrete box girder bridge with the largest span (330m) in the world.
