Panagiota has obtained her Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from the Cyprus University of Technology in 2017. For her degree thesis she investigated a novel non-destructive corrosion detection technique for reinforced concrete (RC) structures under the supervision of Dr. Elia A. Tantele. Her thesis is entitled “Use of infrared thermography as diagnostic tool for non-destructive testing of reinforced concrete corrosion” and investigates the potential of using infrared thermography in identification of corroded rebars in RC members; the method employed is based on the different thermal characteristics of corroded and non-corroded steel rebars. Panagiota visited the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering at the University of Sheffield as a research intern from June to August 2017 in the framework of Erasmus+ Traineeship program for 2016-2017, funded by the European Union.

Innovative Use of all Tyre Components in Concrete
Anagennisi: Innovative Use of all Tyre Components in Concrete An estimated one billion tyres are discarded each year. Post-Consumer tyre arisings for EU countries (2010) are 3.4M tonnes per year. At the moment nearly 50% of all recycled tyres/components still end up as fuel, in low grade applications or in...
